Teacher Support

A trusted approach to meet the requirements of the new Western Australian Curriculum

Additional practical support for building core maths skills

New diagnostic assessment tool to identify and address gaps in knowledge

Projectable lesson summaries for each section

This intuitive new tool allows teachers to build a family of pre- or mid-tests for a unit of work to identify gaps in student knowledge.

Choose your questions from a Textbook view or Curriculum view. Cover one or more textbook lessons or content descriptors, and drill down to specific Mathematical Skills to see the course at a granular level.

Use the intuitive reports to identify gaps in knowledge.

Teachers can then set follow-up work using the Interactive Textbook resources such as video demonstrations for worked examples, Now you try questions and further practice questions to help address these gaps.

A system-generated post-test allows teachers to check again for understanding.

A range of reports on class and individual results give teachers important insight into student growth and attainment.

Targeted skillsheets are included for every section and focus on a single skill or small set of closely-related skills. Each skillsheet includes between eight and ten questions, with a related worked example from the textbook listed for each question. One optional problem-solving question is also included.

Exercise questions have been structured to give students more opportunities to embed core skills before attempting harder questions, ensuring a greater chance of success as the questions increase in complexity.

A set of PowerPoint lesson summaries for classroom presentation include the Lesson Starter, Key Ideas, Building Understanding questions, worked examples and Now You Try questions for each section.

Teachers can use these presentations to guide lessons, focus students’ attention and promote class or group discussion before students work on exercise questions.

Essential Mathematics for the WA Curriculum has been developed by our authoritative team of authors with many years of classroom experience and expertise in writing mathematics resources.

The textbooks are fully aligned to the new curriculum giving teachers the confidence they are meeting all requirements.

Carefully graded exercises and logical topic development allow for deep understanding of concepts and meet the needs of a wide range of abilities.

Our trusted working programs are carefully designed to ensure all students have some experience across understanding, fluency, problem solving and reasoning questions, while the Optional content in year 9&10 fully prepares students for their chosen senior mathematics pathway.

The modelling, investigations, and computational thinking activities in every chapter are accompanied by a marking rubric in the Online Teaching Suite.

Additional unscaffolded modelling activities, available in the Online Teaching Suite, delve deeper into each step of the modelling process and foster discussion of constraints, assumptions and making effective choices about the mathematics employed to solve context-based problems.
