Guides students to success in the new Study Design

Provides extensive assessment and exam preparation support

Builds essential physics skills

Allows students to have control over their learning

  • Learning Intentions matched to the Study Design at the start of each chapter show students what they need to know and do to meet the curriculum requirements.
  • A Success Criteria checklist at the end of the chapter repeats the learning intentions and includes linked questions from the chapter review so students can tick off what they have mastered.
  • An activity to summarise the chapter is suggested in the chapter review with model summaries available in the Teacher resources.
  • Links between topics are demonstrated by icons in the print textbook and are hyperlinked in the Interactive Textbook to help students build a mental map of the course.

Cambridge Senior Science Physics VCE is an all-new series to fully prepare students for success in VCE Physics without overwhelming them with content they won’t be assessed on.

  • Explain icons indicate assessable need-to-know content. Engage boxes explore why students need to study a particular topic, or why it is important, but not assessable.
  • The application of physics in contemporary societal contexts is explored where appropriate, e.g. in the use of nuclear energy in Australia in Unit 1, and in Unit 2 AoS 2 optional topics.
  • Additional material is provided in digital format on scientific investigation methodologies, ethical conduct in investigations, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge, culture and history.
  • Cross study specifications for critical and creative thinking are integrated throughout.
  • With greater assessment weight on SACs in the new Study Design, skills boxes throughout the text advise students on how to approach exam questions. Advice is also provided in digital format on assessment tasks including key science skills and multi-modal and oral presentations.
  • Formative and summative check-in and section questions  assess student learning in every section. Review question at the end of each chapter, and revision exercises at the end of a unit will help students assess if they have mastered the content.
  • Suggested responses, with fully-worked solutions where calculation is involved, are provided for students if the teacher enables access.
  • A digital chapter on scientific skills and the student driven Scientific Investigation is provided in each book along with modelling of logbook entries and access to poster samples and advice.
  • Access to practice exams customised by the teacher with auto-marking for multiple-choice style questions, gives students essential practice at the sort of questions they will encounter in their exams.

  • Exam-style questions requiring calculations are shown as worked examples with explanations to step students through the process. Videos of worked examples are provided online.
  • Rule and formula boxes ensure students grasp key theory and can be revisited easily for revision. The formula sheet provided in the print textbook is also available for download in the digital resources.
  • Downloadable animated PowerPoint files step students through complex diagrams, tables and concepts.
  • 20 Concept videos per book help illustrate concepts and reinforce key knowledge.
  • Digital remedial maths resources will be available for students to revisit required maths skills.
  • Worksheet activities support students’ skill development and can be used offline and/or edited to suit.
  • A glossary by chapter and section ensures students understand key terms as they encounter them and provides a useful revision tool.
