Comprehensively meets the requirements of
the new Study Design
Provides tools to scaffold learning
Our experienced author team have comprehensively reviewed the new Study Design to ensure these resources reflect and support key changes such as:
- a new emphasis on the use of energy and a greater prominence of nuclear energy and electrical power generation, including the societal attitudes towards it in Unit 1;
- a restructure of Unit 3 and new sub-topics such as photovoltaic cells and DC equipment, electric car and battery technology and its integration in the home;
- the inclusion of Relativistic length contraction and time dilation related to applications such as GPS in Unit 4;
- sections and subsections in the digital resources covering Scientific investigation methodologies; Ethical understanding; Individual and collaborative scientific endeavour; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge, cultures and history; and treatment of data.
- The formative and summative check-in questions and review questions for each section can be answered in the Interactive Textbook and teachers can choose to give students access to the suggested responses to self-assess. Teachers can view student responses and provide direct feedback in the Interactive Textbook.
- The Task Manager in the Online Teaching Suite also helps teachers to allocate work geared to a student’s progress and ability.
- The Online Teaching Suite provides downloadable practicals and modifiable documents for experiments, open-ended investigations or ideas for activities that meet the requirements of the Study Design.
- A range of editable worksheets with suggested responses can be used for homework or revision.
- A ready-made practice exam per book, curriculum grids, curated weblinks, worked solutions and suggested responses for all questions, and chapter tests are also available for teachers to download.
Helps you guide students to success in their assessments
- The scientific skills and investigations chapter available in the Interactive Textbook and Online Teaching Suite helps you guide your students through the skills and research strategies they need to conduct an investigation, analyse scientific evidence and communicate results.
- Practice SACs are provided in the teacher resources.
Saves teachers time with extensive downloadable resources
This powerful new feature allows teachers to create custom practice exams using previous VCAA questions plus additional VCAA-style questions with mark allocation and solutions. Teachers can search the question bank by key words and filter question selection by topic, degree of difficulty and question type. Exams can be printed and taken under exam conditions or used for revision, and multiple-choice questions can be completed online and auto-marked. A formula and data sheet will accompany all practice exams.
