Guides students to success in the new Study Design

Provides extensive assessment and exam preparation support

Builds essential chemistry skills

Allows students to have control over their progress

  • Learning intentions matched to the Study Design at the start of each chapter show students what they need to know and do to meet the syllabus requirements.
  • A Success Criteria checklist at the end of the chapter repeats the Learning Intentions and includes linked questions so students can tick off what they have mastered.
  • Links between topics are demonstrated by chapter concept maps and link icons in the print textbook. Hyperlinks, used in both the concept map and link icons in the Interactive Textbook, help students build a mental map of the course.
  • Skills boxes in every section provide valuable advice for students on how to approach assessment tasks and exam questions
  • Sections contain sets of formative check-in questions plus summative questions to assess student learning. Review questions at the end of each unit made up of multiple-choice and short answer questions help students assess if they have mastered the content.
  • Suggested responses, with fully-worked solutions where calculation is involved, are provided for students if the teacher enables access.
  • Chapters on Research and Practical Investigations are provided in each book along with modelling of logbook entries and access to assessment samples and advice.
  • Access to teacher-created practice exams, with auto-marking for multiple-choice style questions, gives students essential practice at the sort of questions they will encounter in their exams.
  • This new VCE Chemistry series provides a clear and logical learning sequence supported by illustrations, videos and extensive review material to build on each concept. This structure supports students to develop the skills they need to apply Chemistry models, theories and concepts to describe, explain, analyse and make predictions about physical phenomena.
  • Concise coverage of the required content, without inessential and unassessed material that can distract and overwhelm students, allows them to focus on the path to VCE success. Explain headings and icons indicate assessable need-to-know content, and Engage boxes explore why students need to study a particular topic but are not assessable.
  • Support for calculations and how to apply them is provided through worked examples, worksheets, and formulas and equations
  • Skills boxes, concept videos and videos of worked examples with additional tips guide students to use the necessary language and methodologies of chemistry to solve qualitative and quantitative problems in familiar and unfamiliar contexts.
  • A range of experimental and inquiry tasks help students develop individual and collaborative science investigation skills. Model answers are provided for all questions.
