Mark White
Mark White is Head of Mathematics at Perth Modern School. He has spent the last 30 years teaching Mathematics in Western Australia in a wide range of schools and has been Head of Mathematics at Ocean Reef Senior High School and at Rossmoyne Senior High School, where he co-founded the Specialist Maths Honours program. Mark has been closely involved with the Mathematical Association of Western Australia (MAWA) working on the National Maths Summer School committee and the recently formed WA Maths Summer School. He is also on the Western Australia Junior Maths Olympiad Committee, which is affiliated with the University of Western Australia.


Timothy Birrell
Tim Birrell is Head of Mathematics at Penrhos College. He has been a teacher in Western Australia for over 30 years, and has also taught at Eastern Goldfields SHS, Como Secondary College, Rossmoyne SHS, Willetton SHS and Harrisdale SHS. He was Head of Mathematics at Willetton SHS, before returning to Rossmoyne as Head of Mathematics, where he co-founded the Specialist Maths Honours program. Tim has held various roles at the School Curriculum and Standards Authority, principally in examination development, and was the chief examiner for Mathematics Methods from 2017-2021. Tim is passionate about Mathematics education for all students and in particular ensuring girls are given every opportunity to study Mathematics at its highest level.


Bruce Leggett
Bruce Leggett is the Head of Learning Area for Mathematics and Design & Technology at Cyril Jackson Senior Campus, with 20 years of Mathematics teaching experience. Bruce has taught in a range of Western Australian government schools, both metropolitan and rural, across all levels of secondary schooling. He has taught all the Western Australian syllabuses from Foundations to Specialist Mathematics. Bruce has 16 years’ experience as a Head of Learning Area providing effective teaching resources for both student success and to support staff in delivering quality teaching and learning. Bruce has a passion for teaching thinking skills to students that allow them to be flexible in their approach to problem-solving so they can actively engage in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics environment.


Darshan Gendah
Darshan Gendah is a highly skilled and dedicated teacher with over twenty-five years of extensive expertise in teaching Mathematics both for the Australian Curriculum and University of Cambridge Curriculum. He taught Mathematics in Mauritius from 1993 to 2006 before moving to Perth to continue his teaching career in a new environment. Darshan is currently the Head of Mathematics at Living Waters Lutheran College. He has a genuine enthusiasm and passion for making a difference in the lives of students and providing quality education opportunities to students of all abilities.


Jennifer Prosser
Jennifer Prosser was raised in Perth and completed her Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education at the University of Western Australia. After beginning as a science teacher, Jennifer transitioned to mathematics and has now taught maths to students from Years 7 to 12 for over 10 years. She has been Acting Head of Mathematics and was chosen to be part of her school’s Cadet Program as a mentor to graduate teachers.


Michael Evans
Michael Evans has a PhD in Mathematics from Monash University and a Diploma of Education from La Trobe University. He currently holds the honorary position of Senior Consultant at the Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute at the University of Melbourne. He was Head of Mathematics at Scotch College, Melbourne, and has also taught in public schools and in recent years has returned to classroom teaching. He has been very involved with curriculum development at both state and national levels. In 1999, Michael was awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws by Monash University for his contribution to mathematics education.


Peter Jones
Peter Jones is a Professor Emeritus and formerly Head of the School of Mathematical Sciences at Swinburne University of Technology. He has been an active supporter of school mathematics over many years and helped pioneer the introduction of graphics calculators into Victorian schools. Peter is a highly experienced writer of mathematical content. His area of expertise is applied statistics.


Kay Lipson
Kay Lipson has a PhD in Statistics Education, and Diploma of Education. Her experience includes over 30 years teaching mathematics and statistics at both secondary and tertiary level, as well as extensive periods as a VCE examiner. Kay is an experienced author of textbooks for the Years 11 and 12 Mathematics courses, specialising in the areas of Probability and Statistics.


David Main
David Main is an experienced teacher of senior VCE Mathematics. David has written several books in the area of General Maths and graphics calculators. For many years he was Head of Mathematics at an Independent school in Melbourne.


Barbara Tulloch
Barbara Tulloch has worked at Monash University as a Mathematics Methods lecturer in the Education Faculty and is an experienced Mathematics teacher. She is currently teaching at a State secondary college.


Kyle Staggard
Kyle Staggard has taught and been involved with online teaching and course development for many years. He has worked in curriculum and teacher professional development, as well as examination marking.


Douglas Wallace
Douglas Wallace has been a Senior Mathematics Teacher at an Independent College in Melbourne for 20 years. He was Head of Mathematics from 1990 to 2000 and went on to lead the Senior College Curriculum as well as the International Baccalaureate Coordinator.


David Greenwood
David Greenwood is the Head of Mathematics at an Independent school in Melbourne and has 25+ years’ experience teaching mathematics from Years 7 to 12. He has run numerous workshops within Australia and overseas regarding the implementation of the Australian Curriculum and the use of technology for the teaching of mathematics. He has written more than 30 mathematics titles.


David Treeby
David Treeby obtained his Bachelor of Science with Honours in Mathematics at Monash University, in 2005. He later obtained his doctorate in 2018. David has taught high school mathematics since 2006, and is currently based at Scotch College, Melbourne, where he is Teacher in Charge of Extension Mathematics. David's teaching interests lie in extending students with rich and interesting problems. David is also an active research mathematician, and most of his published work is in the area of Mathematical Physics.


Neil Capps
Neil Capps is the Head of Mathematics at Glasshouse Christian College and has 29 years' experience in teaching. Neil has also taught in the State and Catholic School Systems as well as in a variety of Christian Schools. Though teaching mainly in Queensland, he taught for four years in Darwin and has also worked as a School Principal in northern New South Wales. Neil is passionate about Mathematics education and has enjoyed the implementation of the new curriculum and encouraging both teachers and students to develop their love of Mathematics.


Leanne Butler
Leanne Butler is Curriculum Leader of Mathematics at Downlands College in Toowoomba. She has 28 years teaching experience across all levels from Years 7 to 12 at various schools across South East Queensland and NSW. She has a keen interest in helping students overcome their apprehension towards Mathematics by exploring how students learn Mathematics and finding real life relevance for simple and complex Mathematical concepts.


Deborah Burton
Deborah Burton has taught across all age groups from Kindergarten, Primary, and Secondary to Adult Education, specialising in Mathematics. She has a passion for teaching Mathematics, with the fruits of her labour being well rewarded with her students performing well academically. She believes that learning is a life-long process for teachers as well as for students.


Cassie McKenzie
Cassie McKenzie has taught mathematics for 12 years in South Australia and Queensland. Cassie initially struggled with maths in high school before the combination of a brilliant teacher and excellent resources meant that she went on to excel in the subject during senior school and university. Cassie is passionate about instilling a love for mathematics by assisting students to gain confidence and find enjoyment through the challenge of mathematics.
