NEW sustainability content has been added across all year levels, including Explore! activities in each chapter that consider the sustainability aspect of key concepts.

The skills chapter in each year level now explores the importance of ethics in science and the real world, with content chapters exploring ethical considerations through explicit topics such as organ donation and genetic testing.  

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples' scientific knowledge and practice are appropriately covered within the content and map to relevant curriculum elaborations.

Updated Science as a Human Endeavour boxes help your students connect the content with the real-world to fully appreciate the value of learning (and loving) science. 

Revised and refined hands-on activities in every chapter offer both short laboratory activities as well as longer investigations that develop inquiry skills. Many of these practical activities include a research component that meets the requirements of the Science Inquiry strand and can also be used as extension material. All practicals have been completely revised and enhanced by a lab technician for effective experiment execution in the classroom. 

NEW Making thinking visible activities in every chapter encourage your students to discuss and explore contemporary science ideas through Visible Thinking routines, many of which directly address elaborations in the curriculum.

NEW Learning goals at the start of each section outline what students can expect to learn and are linked to an end-of-chapter checklist that allows them to tick off their progress and use as a form of quick revision. 

NEW narrated practical videos walk students through experiment set-up and execution, and can be used by remote or absent students, or to familiarise themselves with the techniques and processes before attempting the practical in class. Videos are indicated by an icon in the print book.
