Alison Bedford
Alison Bedford (lead author: History) is an experienced Modern History teacher at The Glennie School. She lectures in History curriculum and pedagogy at the University of Southern Queensland. She is co-founder of the Darling Downs History Network. Alison is interested in exploring pedagogies that foster student independence and metacognitive awareness.
Kate Buchanan
Kate Buchanan (lead author: Geography) is a Geography and Humanities teacher at St Thomas More College. She has worked in Queensland schools for six years and has experience teaching Geography, History and Religion across Years 7–12. Prior to teaching, Kate was an urban planner and demographer. She has experience as a QCAA endorser and confirmer for Geography and as a committee member of the GTAQ. Kate is passionate about the importance of Geography as a discipline to help students understand the world and their place in it.
Kathleen Collin
Kathleen Collin (contributing author: History) has over 25 years of History teaching experience at Independent and Catholic high schools in NSW and Qld. Kathleen is now the Senior Advisor for Culture, Leadership and Capacity at her current school and an executive member of the Queensland History Teachers’ Association.
Jarod Costantini
Jarod Costantini (lead author: Economics & Business) is the Director of Staff Development at Stuartholme School. He has worked in Queensland schools for over 15 years and has experience in several different areas of leadership alongside teaching classes in Years 9 and 10 Economics and Business and Years 11 and 12 Economics.
Kimberley Diehm
Kimberley Diehm (lead author: Civics & Citizenships) has developed a broad understanding of Humanities curriculum over her ten-year teaching career. She is passionate about delivering engaging Business and Civics and Citizenship courses from Years 7 to 12, with a specific focus on student-centred learning, authentic case studies and examining contemporary issues.
Benjamin Hegerty
Benjamin Hegerty (lead author: History) is a History teacher and Head of Humanities and Social Sciences at Stuartholme School in Brisbane. He is an executive member and past Vice-President of the Queensland History Teachers’ Association (QHTA) and has contributed to the QCAA in various roles, as the Brisbane Central District Review Panel Chair for Ancient History, QCAA Subject Matter Expert for Ancient History, Lead Endorser and Lead Confirmer. Ben was involved as a contributing author for the Cambridge University Press textbook, Senior Ancient History for Queensland.
Jessica Hegerty
Jessica Hegerty (contributing author: History) is a History and English teacher who has spent 11 years teaching at Somerville House in Brisbane. She has presented at workshops and conferences on educational technology and pedagogical approaches. Jessica is passionate about girls’ education and empowering girls to make a difference in the world.
Nina Holland
Nina Holland (contributing author: Geography) has been a high school teacher since 2003, teaching humanities subjects Senior Geography and junior Humanities. Within this job, Nina has also created opportunities for teachers to network and share their knowledge through the development of the ‘Gold Coast GeoNet’. Nina is currently an Experience Senior Teacher with Education QLD and part of the GTAQ committed to Building Geography in Queensland as she is passionate about sharing more geography with more teachers.
Emma Kann
Emma Kann (contributing author: History) is Head of Department Religious Education and an experienced Modern History teacher at The Glennie School. She is a co-founder of the Darling Downs History Network, which aims to support regional and remote History teachers.
Cameron Martens
Cameron Martens (contributing author: History) is the Head of the Humanities Department at Matthew Flinders Anglican College. Following studies in Law, History and Education at the University of Queensland, he served in the Australian Government here and overseas before returning to a teaching career in English, Modern History and Legal Studies. He is currently a Lead Confirmer and a Lead EA Marker in Modern History for the QCAA.
Jessica Prouten
Jessica Prouten (contributing author: Economics & Business and Civics & Citizenships) has been teaching in Queensland schools for over 15 years, teaching across a range of curriculum areas from History, to English, Business, Geography and Legal Studies. She has also been involved in designing ACARA-based programs stretching business down to the primary years. Jessica is currently a Head of Department at The Southport School and has been involved in the implementation of the new QCE.
Alison Quin
Alison Quin (contributing author: History) is descended from the Tagalak people of the Gulf Country of far north Queensland. Alison has worked in First Nations education through her career, starting as a high school teacher and moving into community-led education initiatives. Her vision is for all students in Australia to learn about and through the two knowledge traditions of this continent – First Nations and Anglo-Australian – to create a future that respects and empowers this Country and its many peoples.
Emily Sill
Emily Sill (contributing author: Economics & Business and Civics & Citizenships) is a Head of Faculty in Business and Technology at Lourdes Hill College in Brisbane. She actively supports business education in Queensland and has taught Business, Economics and Mathematics for over a decade. Emily has developed resources to support students in Senior Business, is an experienced assessor, and is a member of the Business Educator’s Association of Queensland's executive team.
Ryan Slavin
Ryan Slavin (contributing author: History) has been teaching Humanities subjects for over a decade. He has headed Humanities departments and led eLearning and literacy, among other teaching and learning positions, at numerous schools. He has been a member of the Executive for the Queensland History Teachers’ Association for many years and is the editor of the Association’s eJournal publication. Ryan has written for Cambridge University Press, including Senior Modern History for Queensland published in 2019.
Richard Leo
Richard Leo has taught a range of subjects in the humanities, including history, in South Australia and Queensland. Before moving into teacher education he was Head of Humanities at Nambour Christian College. Currently he lectures in Education and History at CHC Higher Education in Brisbane where he also coordinated the Graduate Diploma of Education program.
Natasha Rosky
Natasha Rosky (contributing author: History) is a seasoned educator with over 20 years of experience teaching history in Australia and abroad. As the Head of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at The Southport School, Natasha is committed to instilling in her students a passion for history and the humanities. She is a skilled designer of inquiry-based assessments that effectively link theory and practice, and she has developed numerous resources to support students. Natasha is a reputable assessor and member of the Queensland History Teachers Association.
